With in excess of 30 years’ working in the mining industry, Andrew has extensive experience in designing and implementing end-user focussed hazard management systems. Andrew first started as a laboratory technician at Tanami Gold Mine in the NT of Australia in 1988 and during his 5-year tenure there obtained experience in fixed plant operations going on to become a shift supervisor, in 1993 he moved on to gain experience in Iron Ore before returning to gold processing as mill foreman in the Kimberly region of WA in 1995.
In 1990, the duty of care legislation was introduced in Australia and during the following 7 years, Andrew witnessed the evolution of safety management systems that failed to deliver for those who worked on the frontline and identified an opportunity to begin Smart Staff International (SSI), a business focussing solely on designing and implementing practical workplace hazard management solutions. The success of the concept is clearly demonstrated by SSI now having been working with our clients to design and implement ‘end-user’ focussed hazard management solutions and processes for over 20 years, servicing over 100 clients in over 25 countries across the globe.
